Dear parents of the October retreat Confirmation candidates,
Please find the following information and further details in the recently sent email: 1) the retreat room assignment sheet for candidates (attached to the email); and 2) a reminder to write and drop off with us your letter of affirmation for your child.
1) Bethany House retreat/roommate assignment sheet
Participants of the retreat will share a room with one other participant. The roommate assignment sheet is attached to the email.
Each room is equipped with a full bath with linens and towels provided. Youth are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, and to bring two changes of clothing, a jacket and outdoor apparel in case of cold weather, an overnight bag of personal hygiene items (such as toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, deodorant, etc.) and any medicines, including asthma inhalers that the youth currently uses. Medicines, including over the counter remedies, must be in the original container with medicine name and dosage information clearly labeled. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served during the retreat. Pizza will be served on Friday night after arrival at Bethany House.
Remind your youth to bring their bible.
Please have your youth meet and check in with the Director at the St. Francis front parking lot (near the front doors of the school) by 5 p.m. this coming Friday, October 9.
2) A reminder to turn in that “secret request” for Parents
Please note that the following request is CONFIDENTIAL to the parents of candidates going on the retreat. Please do not let your child read the letter that you write for them. Please write a letter addressed to your child telling him or her of your pride in them, your love for them, or how much they mean to you. Please place your letter in a sealed envelope with your child’s name written on the envelope. Please return all letters as soon as possible to the Religious Education Office. You may hand the letter to Ellen Ward as your child boards the bus.

Is the Lord Calling You to Give Your Volunteer Time to Teach our Faith to Children? Interested in Learning More? Sign Up Here!
Religious Education teachers are called, “catechists.” The word catechist means “to echo” and the catechist echoes the word of our Lord to others.
We are in need of Catechists and Aides who will freely give of their time to teach and share our Catholic Faith with our parish children. If you pray, believe, and are actively trying to live the Faith, please consider sharing your Faith by engaging in this life-giving ministry of Religious Education.
Even if you have never taught before, you can succeed as a catechist. The requirements are a devotion to our Lord, as expressed in our Catholic Faith, a love expressed in patience and attentiveness towards children, and a desire to learn! Classes begin the week of September 30. Teaching materials and training are provided. The orientation meeting for all Religious Education Teachers and Aides is Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Activities Center (PAC).
Teachers and Aides are needed for most sessions: Wednesday (6:30 p.m.—7:45 p.m.) grades 1-8; Sunday Sessions A & B (11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.) grades preK-8; and Sunday preschool & Toddler and 2’s (10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m.). Leaders and Aides are also needed for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses.
Please contact Ellen Ward at firstname.lastname@example.org or 734-821-2132 for more information or to volunteer to teach or assist in teaching the Faith to our parish children!
But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone to preach?
And how can people preach
unless they are sent?
As it is written,
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)
