The patron of our parish, Saint Francis of Assisi began for us the tradition of the Nativity creche displayed in our homes.  St. Bonaventure, a contemporary of St. Francis (1182-1226) describes the first scene: “Francis prepared a manger, and brought hay, and an ox and an ass to the place appointed. The brethren were summoned, the people ran together, the forest resounded with their voices, and that venerable night was made glorious by many and brilliant lights and sonorous psalms of praise. The man of God (St. Francis) stood before the manger, full of devotion and....preached to the people around the nativity of the poor King...the Babe of Bethlehem.”  Our service will last about an hour and half. There will not be a 5 p.m. Sunday Mass on December  13. Please attend one of our other Masses and please join us for this unique Advent Service and Living Nativity. For questions about this delightful event, please contact Ellen Ward at or 734-821-2132

Is the Lord Calling You to Give Your Volunteer Time to Teach our Faith to Children?  Interested in Learning More?  Sign Up Here!

Religious Education teachers are called, “catechists.”  The word catechist means “to echo” and the catechist echoes the word of our Lord to others.
We are in need of Catechists and Aides who will freely give of their time to teach and share our Catholic Faith with our parish children.  If you pray, believe, and are actively trying to live the Faith, please consider sharing your Faith by engaging in this life-giving ministry of Religious Education.

Even if you have never taught before, you can succeed as a catechist.  The requirements are a devotion to our Lord, as expressed in our Catholic Faith, a love expressed in patience and attentiveness towards children, and a desire to learn!  Classes begin the week of September 30.  Teaching materials and training are provided.  The orientation meeting for all Religious Education Teachers and Aides is Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Activities Center (PAC).

Leaders are needed for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses.  A Coordinator and leaders are needed for Toddler's & Two's.

Please contact Ellen Ward at  or 734-821-2132 for more information or to volunteer to teach or assist in teaching the Faith to our parish children!

But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone to preach?
And how can people preach
unless they are sent?
As it is written,
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)
