ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In today's world, what is of value?  What are the choices that satisfy the heart's longing, that bring meaning to life?  Tough questions that some ask openly and others simply live out.  All of us, however live and act out of a foundation of beliefs and values.  Our children too will grow up and live their beliefs and values.  Coming to know Christ and growing in the friendship of God within a supportive community is the foundation and the framework that brings life to ourselves and gives life to others.

We Need Faith-filled Adults to Teach Religious Education, Lead in Children's Liturgy, or Assist with The Edge.

Teaching Religious Education, leading in the children's Liturgy of the Word, and assisting with the Middle School Youth Group, The Edge, are all ways that you can make a Faith difference in the life of a child. Signing up to share your Faith teaches children to know their dignity as a child of God and helps give direction, focus and meaning to each child's life. In return, you may find that you gain a deeper understanding of your own Faith. Many current volunteers speak of the positive difference that teaching the Catholic faith to children has made in their own lives.
The children's liturgy of the Word takes place at the 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. At the time of the scripture readings during Mass, children in grades K-3 are invited to come forward and proceed to the chapel to hear the readings and a specially designed homily. Children return to their parents at the time of the collection. Training and liturgical material are provided.
The Edge, our middle school youth group, meets Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Adult and High Schoolers (11th and 12th graders) are needed to assist with the youth.
Religious Education classes for children begin the week of Sept. 24. Teaching materials and support are provided. Even if you've never taught before, you can succeed as a Religious Education Teacher. The requirements are a desire to share the Faith, a love of children, and a willingness to learn.
