What is Family Religious Education?
Family Religious Education offers parents the opportunity to share in their children’s religious education. Children in grades preschool and grades K-5 with the presence of at least one parent (or guardian) meet from 10:20 am to 12:20 pm. Parents and children meet in the Parish Activities Center (PAC) to begin the family session. Through discussion, interactive projects, and presentations, the Faith lesson is explored by engaging the children with the presence, guidance and participation of the parents. After the family session, the children proceed to the classroom where the children are taught using catechetical material geared specifically to the child’s age level. Sacramental preparation for age appropriate children takes place in the classroom.
As an additional option, preschool children may also meet from 10:30 am. to 11:45 am. in the Sunday Preschool classroom.
Middle School youth (grades 6-7) meet from 10:20 am to 12:20 pm. To begin the session, youth in grades 6 and 7 meet in the school music room for studies in the Bible or Church History, followed by studies on scripture (Old Testament for 6th grade and New Testament for 7th grade) in assigned classrooms.
Youth in grade 8 meet during Sunday Family A or B for presentations on the Faith and Confirmation from 10:20 am – 12:20 pm.
