The following two documents are adapted for use with Catholic Services at the Washtenaw County Jail.
We celebrate Sacraments of Initiation for inmates entering the Church at the Mass. The certificates will be printed and ready at the jail liturgy for the priest's signature. Priests need only to bring a drivers' license and an alb and your homily. All other supplies are provided. At the jail (with the bishop's permission) every Saturday moring, the Sunday Liturgy (and/or Mass) is celebrated. The Bishop has given PERMISSION for our Diocese of Lansing priests working in Washtenaw County to initiate candidates at the jail with: Baptism and/or Profession of Faith & Confirmation & reception of first Holy Communion. (If you have questions contact the Diocese of Lansing Office for Restorative Justice director Rory Hoipkemier 517-342-2469 or Tim Metts 517-342-2495 or 517-342-2560.)
Also, we enjoy using the little prayer books called "Pray in the Spirit: Catholic Prayers for Inmates" from: Dismas, Milwaukee WI. Web: www.dismasministry.org Receiving the Candidate & Greeting (at the door of the
Church)
