"Laudato Si, mi Signore"
This Fall, we will be reading through Pope Francis’ latest encyclical “Laudato Si.” “Laudato Si, mi Signore” translates to “Praise be to you, my Lord,” a line from St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Sun. Like St. Francis, Pope Francis, is deeply concerned about the care for God’s creation. In his encyclical, he addresses many ecological problems in both the natural environment as well as in the human environment, most importantly, care for the poorest and most vulnerable.
Although encyclicals are generally addressed to the bishops of the Catholic Church with added groups such as clergy, religious, and laymen, Pope Francis seeks to address “every person living on this planet.” He states, “I would like to enter into dialogue with all people about our common home.” We will be reading and discussion the document’s 6 chapters, which include:
Small Faith Groups are all led by St. Francis parishoners and meet on different days and times throughout the week. Choose the time that best suits your schedule.
