Welcome Our
New Parish Nurse,
Sandy Evanski-Klipp.
|
Dear Lord, help me to understand the
importance of the journey to wholeness in my life. Help me
to cast out the demons and bad habits which impede my journey. Help
me to find the balance of body, mind and spirit as I continue my journey
for you. Help our community as we journey together toward wholeness.
Amen

On the subject of Better
Health …
As one reads through all the information on heart disease, heart attacks,
high blood pressure, stroke, cancer and diabetes there is one common thread
that touches each one of these diseases--they can be prevented, or at least
the risk for development can be decreased.
Since heart disease and cancer are the two leading causes of death in
our country, we need to take a very active role in caring for the bodies
God has given us and reduce our risks. This is especially important
if you have a health risk that cannot be controlled, i.e., heredity, gender,
and age. See the "Health Tips" listed on this
page for "WHAT YOU CAN DO".
As we begin the new century, we
encourage the community of St. Francis to consciously begin a journey to
WHOLENESS in body, mind and spirit. Wholeness is not only a condition
or a state; it is also a process. We are always moving towards (or
away from) wholeness. And, when we are whole we are at harmony with
God, and our inner selves, and the body and mind processes that promote
health and healing are activated.
So, the mission
of this Health Ministry is to work with our St. Francis community and move
in the direction of health, healing and wholeness. It will not happen
without prayer or hard work. We will work with other ministries in
our parish to foster healthy habits for the body, the mind, and the spirit.
